Illuminate your path to excellence
What you are paying for
Your child uses LumeXcel. You pay for it. So this page is for you: what it costs, what they actually do with it, whether it will eat your data, and who can see their information. Nothing renews on its own. When the term ends, it ends.
Frequently asked questions
General
The price is assessed per subject, for 3-month periods. You pay per subject, for a term you choose - 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. The more subjects you take and the longer the term, the less each one costs. Nothing renews on its own. When the term ends, it ends. No money leaves your wallet again unless you decide to buy again. Pay with MTN, Vodafone or AirtelTigo Mobile Money, or by card.
You do not have to buy a whole year to find out whether your child will use it. Try one subject for 2 weeks, at the price of ONE month's worth of single subject. If you then enroll properly, any days still left on the trial subject are added on top of your new term - you do not lose what you already paid for. One trial per account.
Each student needs their own account. That is not a licensing rule, it is that the whole product is progress tracking. Two children sharing one account produces a single meaningless average instead of two useful pictures of where each of them stands. Enroll them separately. You can hold both passwords.
Yes, because the account is yours. If your child is under 18, you should be the one to create the account and hold the password. When you sign in you see exactly what they see: which papers they have sat, what they scored, which topics are weak, and how often they are practicing. Currently there is no separate parent login and we do not email you a report. There is one account, and you hold it.
They pick a subject and sit a timed paper - real past questions from real WAEC examinations, with the year each one was set. It marks itself the moment they finish. No waiting, no marking scheme to decode. For every question they got wrong, they can read the working or explanation. A breakdown by topic shows which parts of the syllabus are costing them marks, so revision has a target instead of being "read everything again". And if they still cannot see why an answer is right, they can ask Aura, the study helper built into the app.
Fair question. If the books are working, keep using them. What a book cannot do is stop your child at 45 minutes, mark the paper, and tell them they are losing most of their marks in one topic. That is the whole difference: the book holds the questions. LumeXcel holds the questions, the clock, the marking and the diagnosis, as well as the progressive performance analysis. A book also cannot be marked at 10pm when nobody is awake to mark it.
Because each one is stored against the paper it came from. A question can be traced back to the examination and the year it was set - it is not something we wrote to look similar. Where a question depended on a diagram in the original paper, the diagram is the one from that paper. The explanations are ours, written with AI assistance and checked. Tell us if one is wrong.
Yes. Once a subject has been downloaded, your child can practice with no connection at all. Their scores sync the next time they are online. Download at home or at school where there is Wi-Fi, and the practice itself does not keep eating credit. It runs in the browser on an ordinary Android phone. There is nothing to install from a store, and no laptop needed.
That is fine. Your child signs in on whichever phone is free - the account lives online, not on the handset, so their progress follows them. The one thing tied to a particular phone is the offline download. If they download Mathematics onto your phone, that copy is on your phone. On a different phone they would download again, or practice online. There is no limit on how many phones an account is used on.
There is no messaging between students. The only thing your child can have a conversation with is Aura, and Aura only discusses schoolwork. Leaderboards show a username, never your child's real name. Your child can send a friend a link to a puzzle challenge. The link expires after three days and gives nobody access to their account. Aura is an AI. To answer a question, the text your child types is sent to our AI provider. Tell them not to type personal details into it - it does not need a name or a phone number to explain a past question. We never see your card number or your Mobile Money PIN. Those go straight to the payment provider and never reach us.
We cannot promise your child a grade, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can promise is that they practice real past questions and potential mock exams under real time pressure, that every wrong answer comes with the working or explanations, and that they will know which topics are costing them marks.LumeXcel is not affiliated with WAEC and is not endorsed by them. The questions are from past papers; the app is ours.
No, and we would not sell it as one. Extra classes give your child a person who watches them work and notices what they are misunderstanding. This gives them volume - far more past questions than they would get through in a class, at any hour, already marked. Most students who do well use both. If you can only afford one, keep the teacher.
Mobile Money sometimes takes the money without the confirmation reaching us. If you were debited and access did not open, send us the transaction ID and we will trace it with the provider and either open the account or refund you. Changed your mind? Write to us within 2 weeks of paying and we will refund in full. Found a wrong answer or an explanation that does not make sense? Tell us. We check every one that gets reported.Email: info@lumexcel.com
